Om Sam
With over 27 years of experience in breakdance and hip hop, I’ve dedicated my career to perfecting my craft and sharing it with others. My journey has taken me across Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, and Egypt, where I’ve had the privilege of teaching and performing. One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been creating and building multiple dance groups from scratch, watching them evolve into well-established teams. As a teacher, my goal is to help my students challenge themselves in a way that makes them fall in love with the process. It’s incredibly fulfilling to guide them through struggles I once faced myself, helping them reach places that might’ve been harder for me. I want them to experience the joy of growth in a way that feels natural and achievable. I teach based on how each student’s body understands movement. We all have different ways of processing dance, so I focus on helping them feel the movement in their own way, rather than simply following a set method. This approach allows my students to truly connect with the dance, both physically and emotionally. Dance, for me, is more than just an art form it’s a way to express energy and transform your mood. Whether it’s releasing negative emotions or amplifying positive ones, dance always takes me to a better place. It’s a powerful tool that can bring happiness, peace, and fulfillment. Dance is also deeply connected to music. The way the music flows and guides the movement is vital. Music and dance are inseparable, with each movement deeply influenced by the rhythm and melody. It’s through this connection that dance becomes an even more powerful form of expression, making the experience richer and more meaningful. A defining moment in my journey was my first competition. Reaching the final was a powerful experience, as it allowed me to prove something to myself more than just competing, it was about recognizing my growth and potential as a dancer. This moment solidified my passion for dance and reaffirmed its place in my life. Through my teaching, I hope to instill in my students the importance of resilience. I want them to know that no matter what challenges come their way, whether in dance or life, they should never give up. Strength and persistence are key to achieving anything they set their mind to.
